Aaron allowed the Israelites to make a golden idol, which upset Moses. Moses was so angry that he threw the slates to the ground, smashing them. Moses parted the Red Sea with his staff, providing a path for the Israelites to cross over. After the Israelites passed through the sea and were safe on the other side, Moses closed the waters.
